I remember seeing my mama coupon when I was a child. She would shop around for the best deal. I also promised myself that no matter how much money I earned, that I would always shop smart like my mama did. Most people believe that eating healthy is expensive, but that is not necessarily true. There are ways to avoid increasing your grocery bill and your waistline. I created the Southern Belle Remix to help people remix their lives, recipes, and health. Throughout this article, I will give you simple three tips to help you eat healthy on a budget.

The first tip is to purchase items that are on sale. Fruit and vegetables that are in season will be less expensive. Also, there will be times where you can match up coupons to sale items to help you save more money. Another way to purchase quality fruit and vegetables, save money, and stimulate your local economy is to shop at local farmer’s markets. I generally buy fruit and veggies at the farmer’s market and freeze them before they go bad. Many people also can grow their own fruit and vegetables as well. It’s a great way to limit preservatives in your food.

Second Tip

The second tip is to use coupons. There are a few ways you can find coupons for healthy and allergen friendly foods. Following different companies on social media is a great way to get coupons. There are times when the brand may offer a coupon to their followers on social media. Another way is to visit online coupon websites. You may also want to download your local grocery store’s app.

There are often exclusive digital coupons on the app that you may not be able to find anywhere else. Customer loyalty cards are also great ways to save. You will get exclusive discounts, and sometimes you will receive coupons in the mail. My final tip for unique ways to find coupons is to contact the manufacturer or brand directly. This was very useful when you want to try health and allergy friendly foods for the first time. Brands are flattered that you want to try their products and usually say yes. The thing that can happen is that they say no.

What was Next

The third and final tip is to budget. Set your budget and stick to it. You may have to cook certain recipes from scratch to save money. Often, we are paying for convenience. Bringing your lunch to work is a great way to save money and stay on a budget. Not only are you able to pay attention to what you are putting in your body, but you will also be able to get more meals for the price of one restaurant meal. You can be creative and meal prep so that you do not have to eat the same meal every day.

As you see, there are various ways to eat healthy on a budget. You may choose to implement a few things or all three tips. I recommend that you do what is best for you. I purchase allergy friendly and healthy foods all the time, and I do not spend more money than I did before. And I ate healthy because I learned how to implement these tips.
